Preventing The Fast Food Industry - 878 Words

In today’s world it is common for everyone in a family to go out to eat especially at fast food restaurants. At every corner there is a variety of different restaurants ready to take your money and feed you. Most of which are built around the idea that mass producing food will bring more profits. This causes problems such as market saturation, unhealthy conditions, and foodborne illnesses. With current laws not regulating the majority of the fast food industry, different problems arise with no solutions to fix them. By providing appropriate solutions we can assist in maintaining a healthy world. In the fast food industry, the driving factor is the idea that the more product they can sell, in this case food, the higher the revenue. This creates a problem for the companies that aren’t tied to multi-million dollar foundations. As different chains open, such as McDonalds, Burger King, and Taco Bell, this makes it more difficult for the â€Å"mom and pop† restaurants to maintain their business. Within the larger chains, we can see that they purchase items in bulk, giving them better pricing, whereas the â€Å"mom and pop,† or privately owned, restaurants typically purchase from local vendors such as grocery stores or farmer’s markets. Doing so creates a huge price gap between the larger companies and the smaller companies. This begins to put the, healthier, smaller restaurants out of business.
